Congratulations to Damien, who has successfully secured employment in a local Dungog factory, making pastries and baked goods for members of the community!
Damien came to Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutions (MWLFS) just short of two years ago. He had already left school and was looking to build his skill set in order to secure employment. Through MWLFS, Damien was able to develop basic administration skills and build his confidence in a group setting. He attended Esther House training where he learnt about his personality strengths and the ability to identify strengths in others.
MWLFS was able to link Damien with National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) services so that he could obtain an NDIS plan.
In an effort to develop his skill set and reach his employment goals, Damien caught the train from Dungog to Maitland twice a week for three months to complete his Certificate II in Kitchen Operations in Maitland, where he learnt all about the Hospitality industry – an area of interest for Damien. MWLFS were able to assist Damien with the cost of his train fares each week.
After the completion of the course, Damien engaged in work experience in a local kitchen, further developing his industry knowledge and skills. Damien never gave up on his employment goals, and with the help of MWLFS has now secured employment in Dungog.
Well done Damien!
