Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutions (MWLFS) job seekers have the opportunity to complete training with Atwea College to obtain a Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways – Hospitality Focus.

In the training, job seekers practice preparing simple, healthy meal options while developing knowledge and skills to complete safe food handling processes within a commercial kitchen environment. The course covers all things health and wellbeing including making healthy food choices, how to buy goods on sale and preparing lunches for work that will help sustain energy levels and reduce fatigue.

Alongside the health and wellbeing focus, students learn to utilise technology that will be important when planning their trips to work and interviews, as well as practice building their foundational work skills, including reading, writing, communication and numeracy.

Upon completion of the course, job seekers walk away with a qualification to help them gain employment within the hospitality industry as well as having developed new skills to use in their personal lives.

Maitland Park Bowling Club have provided a training room for the course delivery, ensuring plenty of space for the group to train together with COVID-19 safety procedures in place. The course is running once a week on Tuesday up until the end of the year.
