Term 3 Get Started participants have kicked off transport and travel awareness training across Maitland, Cessnock and Newcastle areas.
The training supports participants to develop capacity building skills around independence in the community and preparing for working life.
Topics covered include use of Opal Cards, trip planning, reading and interpreting timetables, time management, knowing landmarks and the people within your community and experiencing bus, train and light rail trips.
Participants have said they feel more confident and comfortable since experiencing public transport with the group. Participants, Meika and Dylan, said they see themselves using public transport for everyday living until they get their drivers licence and access to a car.
